Majority of dads today have no time for their children. I discovered that it’s only the mothers that always have time for children than the fathers. Fathers why now?
There was a time I asked one of my students, “Who do you love more between your dad and mum?”
“My mum,” he replied, “because she’s always with us.”
I know of someone who resigned from work all because his child thought he was a stranger. Why?
The man was only seen once in a while because he of the nature of the his work which required it. His child never knew him to be his father since he was seen just once in a month when he was around.
Many young people especially the males are seen today on the streets with lack of home training. Their fathers never have time for them to guide them. They are not nurtured by their fathers. Not all things the mother will do. A boy that have no father to rub minds with will locate an outsider who will either make him or mar him.
The home is a place to raise your children and you are the channel God is using to train them and enhance that virtues in them.
The family is the smallest unit of the society. If every family is doing right, the society will look right.
I will to share an inspiring story with you.
Canoeing specialist, Bill Havens, was almost guaranteed to win a gold medal in the 1924 Olympics in Paris. But a few months before the games he learned that his wife would likely give birth to their first child while he was away. She told him that she could make it on her own, but this was a milestone Bill didn’t want to miss. So he surprised everyone and stayed at home. He greeted his infant son, Frank, into the world on August 1, 1924.
Though he always wondered what might have been, he said he never regretted his decision. He poured his life into that little kid, and shared with him a love for the rapids.
Twenty-four years passed, and the Olympics games were held in Finland. This time his son Frank was chosen to compete in the canoeing event. The day after the competition, Bill Havens received a telegram from Frank that read:
“Dear Dad, thanks for waiting around for me to be born. I am coming home with the gold medal that you should have won.” It was signed “Your loving son, Frank.”
From this story, Bill understood that medals tarnish, records are broken, and achievements are soon forgotten. This things don’t satisfy. What does? The love you have for your children, and the love they have for you.
Are you neglecting your family today? If so, take the right action immediately!
