The Welfare of Children: 6 Things To Protect Children From

Are you really ensuring the welfare of children?

Apart from home, children’s welfare should be protected at all levels – from the federal to local government levels.

The way some children are maltreated annoys me at times. Those who maltreated them thought they were doing them bad not knowing that they were doing them good. Just like how Joseph’s brother did him evil but God manifested His power and turn his pain to gain.

If you think that that is you are doing it due to hatred, remember that you’re not God, don’t think you are doing such child an an evil. It’s just a matter of time.

The wise ones among the children take it as a way of training themselves to become stronger and rugged. They don’t see maltreatment as a problem because they are familiar with it.

Instead of punishment, they acquire the skill to endure pains. Instead of inadequate sleeping hours, they are trained how to be active when others are tired at night. Even all those house chores you give them to do while you think you are pampering your own child, is a means of teaching them. This makes them become independent anywhere they go.

The welfare of children is very important. Though they are maltreated and denied of some opportunities, but God always glorify Himself in their lives. Though they are delayed of getting to their promised land, but their Creator takes them there at the appropriate time.

If you have been engaging in this act before now, please try to think right and treat every other children like your children. Don’t discriminate nor ignore anyone.

I want you to know that it is the egg you see now that will become a fowl tomorrow. Whatsoever you sow, you will reap. Please repent and turn a new leaf.

Let’s take a look at some of those wrong things which children should be prevented from engaging in.

You should protect children from the following:

  • Communal and armed conflict.
  • All forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, including economic exploitation, sexual exploitation, and the use of children in criminal activities or the production and trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
  • Child trafficking.
  • All forms of violence.
  • All forms of hazardous works.
  • Diseases associated with hunger and malnutrition, particularly early in life.

Question: What can children be prevented from apart from the above?
